Ohio State, Boston College Meet Sunday in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team is set to host Boston College Sunday at Buckeye Varsity Field. The game between the Buckeyes (4-2) and Eagles (2-4) is Ohio State's final non-conference home game of the season.

Ohio State begins its Big Ten Conference schedule at No. 2 Iowa next week. The Buckeyes and Hawkeyes open the conference season Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. ET. - Sunday is Alumni Day at Buckeye Varsity Field. The team welcomes back program alumni and will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 2001 team's Big Ten regular season and tournament wins.

- Ohio State is 4-2 on the year entering Sunday's game against Boston College. The Buckeyes have won their last three games. The streak started with a 3-2 win over then-ranked No. 5 Virginia, and it's continued with victories over Delaware (4-3, PS) and Cornell (2-0).
- The Buckeyes earned their first top 20 ranking of the season this week, coming in at No. 20 in the NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The ranking is the first of the season for Ohio State. The team earned a top 20 ranking in six weeks of the 2025 season.
- Leading the team in points and goals through six games this season is junior forward Sienna Golden. She has recorded a career-high five goals and 10 points on the year for the Buckeyes. Golden ranks fifth in the conference with .83 goals per game.
- In the cage for Ohio State, junior Maddie Stevens and freshman Avery Alleva are both 2-1 on the year and have each posted a shutout. Stevens helped the Buckeyes to their first penalty shootout win of the season against Delaware for her second win of the season and Avery made a career-high six saves to help the Buckeyes to their first win over Virginia in program history.
- Twelve Buckeyes have recorded a point this year for the Buckeyes with seven tallying goals – Golden (5), Emily Barker (3), Raleigh Kerst (1), Carmela Maro (1), Victoria Kutz (1), Grace Dixon (1) and Lea DeWan (1).
- The Buckeye defense has held three opponents to less than 10 shots on the year, with a season-low three shots allowed against Cornell last weekend.
- The Buckeyes are captained by Katie Fichtner, Anne Marie Krebs and Victoria Kutz. Fichtner is a three-time captain, Krebs is in her second season as a captain and Kutz is wearing the band for the first season.
- Ohio State head coach Jarred Martin is 96-77 in his career at Ohio State. Martin is assisted by associate head coach Kate Lipton and assistant coach Patrick Cota.
- Sunday marks the third meeting all-time between Ohio State and Boston College.
- The Buckeyes hold the 2-0 advantage in the series that started in 1999.
- Ohio State and Boston College meet in Columbus for the first time since 1999. The teams last played each other in 2006, with the Buckeyes earning a 4-2 win over the Eagles.
