
Perry Selected a Honda Award for Tennis Finalist

Junior earned singles and doubles All-America honors this year
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Luciana Perry, who recently competed her junior year with the Ohio State women's tennis team, is one of four finalists for the Honda Sport Award, The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced Tuesday.
Perry is the second Buckeye to be a finalist for the award, joining two-time selection Francesca Di Lorenzo (2016, 17). The other finalists this year are Reese Brantmeier from North Carolina, Texas' Carmen Herea and Lucciana Perez from Texas A&M.Â
The CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025-26 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation's top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing "the best of the best in collegiate athletics." The tennis finalists were selected according to final ITA collegiate rankings and NCAA competition. The Honda Sport award winner for tennis will be announced later this week after voting by administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA member schools.The recipient will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Class of 2026 Honda Cup, to be presented at 7 p.m. July 27 live on CBS Sports Network.
This year, Perry ended the season ranked fourth nationally in singles and eighth in doubles (with Flora Johnson). She earned her third singles All-America accolade and her first doubles All-America nod. She received First Team All-Big Ten accolades and paired with Johhnson to earn the inaugural Big Ten Doubles Team of the Year award Perry was 23-6 overall in singles, with a 15-4 dual ledger, and had a 25-8 mark on the year in doubles, posting an 18-6 dual record. Perry helped lead the Buckeyes to the program's second appearance in the NCAA semifinals and the first berth in the final at ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The Buckeyes were 25-7 on the year and won the Big Ten regular season title, reaching the tournament final. Ohio State was ranked in the Top 5 since Feb. 11 and ended the year ranked fourth.Â
Perry is the first Buckeye to earn All-America honors in singles three times by reaching the Round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship and the second Ohio State player to be a three-time singles All-American (Irina Cantos Siemers 2021, '22, '24). She is the third Buckeye to earn both singles and doubles All-America accolades, joining Di Lorenzo (singles 2016, '17; doubles '17) and Kristy Dascoli (singles and doubles 2001).Â
In her three-year career, Perry is 82-25 in singles and has a 76-36 doubles ledger.Â
