Perry Named B1G Player of the Week

All-American won five combined singles/doubles matches last week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Luciana Perry of the No. 3 Ohio State women's tennis team has been named Big Ten Player of the Week after posting five wins – three in singles and two in doubles – in three Ohio State road victories last week. She is now a four-time Big Ten Player of the Week honoree.
In singles, No. 5-ranked Perry topped Michigan's No. 22 Lily Jones on court two in a 4-1 win over the No. 17 Wolverines and she won in straight sets over Mia Mack of Iowa on court one in a 4-0 victory. At Nebraska, Perry led Maria Taranova on court one, 7-5, 3-6, 5-0 when the 4-0 Buckeye win was clinched.
In doubles, Perry and Flora Johnson, ranked 36th, won on court one vs. Michigan and Iowa and on court two at Nebraska. The ranked win over the Iowa duo was in a tiebreak and clinched the doubles point.
A three-time All-American, Perry is 11-2 in dual matches and 19-4 overall this year, with the Buckeyes 17-3 and 8-1 in B1G play.
The Schedule Ahead
Ohio State wraps up a stretch of five consecutive road matches this weekend, taking on Purdue at noon Saturday and Indiana at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Buckeyes will close the regular season at home against Oregon at 6 p.m. April 17 and Washington at noon April 19. The night match vs. Oregon will be inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center and the match vs. the Huskes is scheduled to be played outside at the Auer Tennis Complex. Admission and parking are free for all home matches.
