Ohio State Finishes Fourth in NCAA Regional Final

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's gymnastics team concluded its team competition season in Sunday's NCAA Regional Final at Historic Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky. The Buckeyes finished fourth with a team score of 196.700 and had 10 Buckeyes improve a total of 10 routine scores from the regional semifinal.
In addition to the individual routine improvements, the team bested their Friday event scores on uneven bars (49.175) and beam (49.050) and its overall score by .150.
For the second time this weekend, Ohio State had its strongest showing on vault. The team finished second in the meet on the apparatus with an overall score of 49.400. Cameron Smith, Natalie Martin and Tory Vetter each recorded consecutive 9.9s for the second time in the regional while Kaitlyn Grimes (9.825) and Jaylyn Pomager (9.850) both improved their semifinal scores. The Buckeyes also counted a 9.850 from JJ Coleman in the rotation.
On beam, Courtney McCann scored a team-high 9.900 to close the rotation. The score was her third 9.900 of the season. McCann, Ava Jackson (9.700) and Martin (9.800) bested their regional semifinal performances and Vetter tied her regional semifinal score with a 9.850. The team also counted a 9.800 from Rylee Guevara in the rotation.
The Buckeyes' floor rotation was led by Coleman, the team's regular season All-American on the apparatus, with a score of 9.875. Grimes added a 9.850 and Baylie Belman and Guevara recorded a 9.800. Vetter's 9.750 was also counted towards the overall score.
In the final rotation of the day on uneven bars, Jackson led the squad with a career-high 9.875, followed by Maisyn Rader and Vetter with a pair of 9.850s and Coleman and Pomager with 9.800s. Samara Buchanan made her return to the lineup for just the second time this season and scored a season-high 9.750.
