
Buckeyes Vault into NCAA Regional Final

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's gymnastics team finished second in Friday night's NCAA Lexington Regional semifinal with a score of 196.550 to advance to the next round of the 2026 NC Women's Gymnastics Championships. The Buckeyes defeated Rutgers (196.300) and No. 16 Kentucky (196.175) to join session-winner Oklahoma (197.875) in Sunday's regional final.
The team literally vaulted into Sunday's meet, scoring a 49.550 on the apparatus in the third rotation to put itself in position to advance. The vault score is Ohio State's highest since 2013 and the best vault score of the eight teams in the Lexington second round. Cameron Smith, Natalie Martin and Tory Vetter all scored career-high 9.950s in the meet to finish first overall in the regional. JJ Coleman also recorded a career high, anchoring the rotation with a 9.900. Kaitlin Grimes scored a 9.800 for the fifth score counted in the rotation.
Ohio State was in fourth after the first rotation on beam, scoring a 49.975 on the apparatus. Rylee Guevara, Courtney McCann and Vetter led the rotation with 9.850s.
The Buckeyes' performance on floor, with an overall score of 49.175, put them in third at the halfway point of the meet. Guevara and Vetter scored 9.900s to lead the team in the rotation and tie for second in the session.
Following the incredible vault rotation, the team closed out the meet with a 48.850 on bars. Coleman's 9.850 was the highest score of the rotation for the Buckeyes.
Vetter won the session's all-around title with a score of 39.500. The score was good for second overall in the regional.
Ohio State will compete against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 8 Missouri and No. 9 Arkansas Sunday in the regional final for a spot in the NCAA Championships. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m. from Historic Memorial Coliseum and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
