
No. 9 Ohio State Falls in Overtime Saturday at No. 10 Maryland

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9 Ohio State men's lacrosse team overcame a four-goal deficit in Saturday night's game at No. 10 Maryland, but ultimately fell in overtime, 7-8, at SECU Stadium in College Park, Md.
Short Story
Down 4-0 in the first quarter, the Buckeyes (8-3, 1-2 B1G) stormed back to tie the game late in the fourth quarter. Ohio State cut the Terrapin lead down to one at the half and again entering the third quarter before tying the game with five minutes to play to send the top 10 conference matchup to overtime.
Garrett Haas led the team with three points on a goal and two assists. Alex Marinier tallied a team-high two goals, both of which were assisted by Haas. Eight Buckeyes tallied a point in the game.
Caleb Fyock and Jack Oldman tied with five ground balls on the day. Oldman won five faceoffs and Fyock made 14 saves.

Ohio State closes the regular season with two Big Ten home games. The team will host No. 14 Johns Hopkins Saturday, April 11 at noon followed by the regular season finale vs. Michigan on Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m.

How it Happened
- Maryland took a 4-0 lead in the first six minutes of the game. Ohio State responded with two goals of its own, with Jake Cohen scoring at 9:01 and Jackson Walsh adding another at 6:18, to cut the Terrapin advantage to two goals. Maryland tallied the final goal of the opening quarter at 2:23 for the 5-2 lead after 15 minutes of play in College Park.
- The Buckeyes outscored Maryland, 3-1, in the second quarter to cut the Terrapin lead to one at the half. Garrett Haas, Walsh and Logan Soelberg added to the score sheet in the frame. Caleb Fyock stopped four of five shots faced in the quarter, with the four saves on Maryland's first four shots of the quarter.
- Both teams were held to a single goal in the third quarter. Maryland struck first in the quarter before Alex Marinier put the Buckeyes back within one.
- Marinier scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter to tie the game at 7-7 with five minutes to play in regulation.
- Fyock saved Maryland's last five shots on goal over the last 22 minutes of the game to help the Buckeyes take the Terrapins to overtime.
- Maryland scored 2:40 into overtime for the win.
- Alex Marinier scored his 100th career goal on the game-tying goal in the fourth quarter. He is just the 15th Buckeye to record 100 goals for his career and did so in three seasons playing attack.
- Caleb Fyock made a season-high 14 saves on a season-high 36 shots faced in the game. He finished the game with a .636 save percentage for his third game over 60 percent in goal this season.
- The game was Ohio State's second overtime game of the season. Two of the team's three conference contests this year have been decided in overtime.
