No. 2 Buckeyes Earn Pair of Sweeps Against NKU and Oregon

Ohio State returns home Sunday to face Washington and Toledo
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 2 Ohio State topped NKU 7-0 and No. 59 Oregon 4-0 Friday at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
The wins marked the Buckeyes 10th and 11th sweeps of the season at Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Ohio State is now 14-1 at home and currently on a nine-game winning streak.
Nikita Filin earned his 10th singles victory against Big Ten competition and led Ohio State with three total wins on the day, while Loren Byers led with two singles victories.
The Buckeyes host another doubleheader Sunday at the Auer Tennis Complex against Washington at noon and Toledo at 4 p.m.
Doubles

Against NKU, the Buckeyes swept the Norse in doubles.

Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin dominated on court two, winning 6-0.

On court three, Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima dropped a single game, defeating NKU's Mateus Ranciaro and Dugan Fowler 6-1 to clinch the doubles point for Ohio State.

Court one played their match out with Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo earning their fifth-consecutive victory as a pair in a 6-3 match.

Against the Ducks, Carpico and Filin were tied at 2-all with Oregon's No. 40 ranked Matthew Burton and Pierre Mouesca before the Buckeye pair won three-consecutive games to make it 5-2. The Ducks took another to cut the lead to two but Carpico and Filin prevailed, winning 6-3.

Kim and Nakashima went up 3-0 for the second time today and continued their momentum, clinching the doubles point with a 6-3 victory on court three.

On court two, Bernard and Okonkwo found themselves down 4-2 they battled back to make tie it at 4-all before the match was clinched.

The doubles momentum carried into singles as all six Buckeyes earned first-set victories against the Norse.

Alex Okonkwo put Ohio State up 2-0 after a quick 6-1, 6-0 match on court three.

A few minutes later, Loren Byers captured another Buckeye point with a 6-0, 6-1 win on court two.

The match continued in Ohio State's favor as Alexander Bernard clinched the victory over NKU on court four with a 6-1, 6-1 win.

Brandon Carpico remained undefeated on court five, taking a 6-1, 6-1 victory to make the score 5-0 Buckeyes.

Shortly after, Preston Stearns earned his ninth victory in duals on the season, defeating NKU's Dugan Fowler 6-1, 6-1.

JP Day earned his first career dual singles on court six, winning 6-3, 6-0 to defeat the Norse 7-0.

Against Oregon, every Buckeye won the first set by three or more games.

On courts four and five, Byers and Filin went up 3-0 to start the first set against Oregon. Filin went on to win the first set 6-1 and cruise to a 6-1 second set to grab the first singles point for the Buckeyes. Byers went on to win the first set 6-3 and followed it up with a 6- , putting Ohio State up 3-0.

Jack Anthrop secured the clinching singles victory on court two after a pair of 6-2 sets.

Stearns, Kim and Nakashima were all up in the second set when the match was called, Stearns was leading 5-0 in his second set.
