Five Buckeyes Honored with Big Ten Postseason Awards

The Big Ten Conference announced its women’s basketball postseason awards on Tuesday on the B1G Today show.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its postseason women's basketball awards on Tuesday. Five Buckeyes were honored among the conference's most impactful players.
Jaloni Cambridge was unanimously selected to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the league's head coaches and media. Kennedy Cambridge was named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team by both the coaches and media. Chance Gray received an honorable mention by the Big Ten coaches and media votes and was also named a Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree. Other media honorees were Kylee Kitts (Big Ten All-Freshmen Team) and Elsa Lemmilä (All-Big Ten Defensive Team).
J. Cambridge was named to the preseason watch lists for the Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award and earned a spot on the Preseason All-Big Ten Team prior to the season. She was also named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List. the Wooden Award Late Midseason Top 20 List and the Naismith Trophy Late Season Team. Cambridge was named AP Player of the Week and Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 12 and has twice tabbed one of the five USBWA Women's Players of the Week (Jan. 13, Feb. 10). She has earned a spot on the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll seven times this season. She was also crowned the MVP of the Pink Flamingo Championship and headlined the all-tournament team for the event.

J. Cambridge has scored in double figures in each of the Buckeyes' 30 games this season and became the 40th player in program history to score 1,000 career points on Feb. 8 at Oregon. In January, Cambridge became the first Buckeye since Kelsey Mitchell nearly a decade ago to score 25 or more points in three consecutive games and now, she's done it for a second time, scoring 26, 29, 30 and 26 points during consecutive games between Jan. 25 and Feb. 5. On Sunday, J. Cambridge became the fifth Buckeye in program history to score 700 points in a season. Among single season program records, she ranks ninth in points (703) and is tied for eighth in field goals made (266). J. Cambridge wrapped up the regular season as the Big Ten scoring champion – both overall (23.4 ppg) and in conference play (26.4 ppg). She also leads the league in free throws made per game (4.3), ranks second in field goals made per game (8.9), ninth in assists per game (4.5) and 11th in steals per game (1.9).

K. Cambridge was named to the watch list and late season team for Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. She has consistently led the Big Ten and stayed among the top five in the nation with 4.0 steals per game this season. She averages 1.5 steals per game more than any other player in the Big Ten this season. K. Cambridge owns the single season program record with 120. She is just the second Buckeye to ever record 100 or more steals in a season, doing so on Feb. 8 at Oregon. K. Cambridge recorded a career-high 10 steals on Dec. 11, becoming the sixth Buckeye in program history to total 10 or more steals in a single game and the second in the last two decades. The 10 steals in a game ties for the third-most by a player in program history and is just one shy of the single-game record. Despite being in only her second season at Ohio State, Cambridge has amassed 168 steals in the Scarlet & Gray to tie for 17th in program history. This season, Cambridge has recorded at least one steal in all 30 games and totaled three or more in 24 games. She also owns the second-most blocks on the team (21).

Gray earned a spot on the Pink Flamingo Championship All-Tournament Team earlier this season. Among Big Ten rankings, she's tied for fifth in three-pointers made per game (2.4), eighth in three-point percentage (.399) and in the top 20 in scoring (14.6 ppg). In conference play, Gray is tied for third in the Big Ten with 2.6 three-pointers made per game, fifth in three-point percentage (.420) and 16th in scoring (15.4 ppg). She leads the team in three-point shooting and ranks second with 23 double-figure performances and five 20-point performances this season. Gray scored the 1500th point of her collegiate career on Feb. 1 and notched her 100th career steal on Dec. 11.

Lemmilä leads the Big Ten with 2.2 blocks per game throughout the season and 2.6 blocks per game during conference play. Her 65 blocks this season is a career-high and just two shy of tying the 10th most by a Buckeye in a single season in program history. Lemmilä is tied for 12th in the conference with 7.0 rebounds per game and is sixth with 8.4 rebounds per game during conference play. She leads the team in 10+ rebound games this season (7) and also has a team-high five double-doubles.

Kitts was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Jan. 12. She is averaging 7.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season. Prior to missing time due to injury, she led the team with 7.1 rebounds per game and was averaging 9.3 points per game. She's scored in double figures eight times this season, totaled at least 10 rebounds in five games this season and earned a pair of double-doubles. Kitts is tied for 13th in the conference with 2.5 offensive rebounds per game and is in the top 25 with 5.9 rebounds per game.
