COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3 ranked Ohio State women's tennis team opened up a three-match homestand with a 4-0 win over No. 23 Duke Sunday outside at the Auer Tennis Complex. The Buckeyes are now 12-3 on the year (4-1 B1G), with the Blue Devils 11-4 (5-0 ACC).

The Buckeyes posted two 6-1 wins in doubles for the 1-0 lead. Teah Chavez and Hephzibah Oluwadare paired up on court one, with Luciana Perry and Flora Johnson victorious on court two. Chavez, Nao Nishino and Audrey Spencer all won in straight sets in singles for the team victory.

Ohio State will host Rutgers at 2 p.m. Friday and Maryland at 2 p.m. Sunday. Matches are scheduled to be played outside at the Auer Tennis Complex and admission and parking are free.

How it Happened

In a Top 20 battle on court one, the Buckeyes' No. 14 duo of Hephzibah Oluwadare and Teah Chavez won 6-1 against No. 18 Liv Hovde and Shavit Kimchi.
On court two, No. 84 Luciana Perry and Flora Johnson prevailed 6-1 over Aspen Schuman and Claire An to clinch the doubles point.
Ohio State captured four of six singles first sets and went on to win on courts two, five and four for the team win.
Chavez, ranked fourth, rolled to a 6-2 lead on court two against Hovde. The second set went to a tiebreak, where the Buckeye posted a shutout to win the match and put Ohio State up 2-0.
On court five, No. 86 Nao Nishino topped No. 112 Eleana Yu, 6-2, 6-4, winning four of the final five games.
No. 100 Audrey Spencer clinched the team win, as she defeated Kimchi, 6-4, 7-6 (4), on court four.
The remaining matches were abandoned. Perry (court one) and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev (court three) were both in the third set and Johnson was in the second on court six.
Spencer is 10-0 this spring, with Chavez 10-1, to lead Ohio State. Spencer has won her last 14 completed matches.
Ohio State also defeated Duke earlier this season in the first round of the ITA Indoor National Team Championship, 4-2.
