No. 5 Ohio State Wins 4-1 at No. 9 Texas A&M

Buckeyes return to Big Ten Conference play Friday at Indiana
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 5 Ohio State (15-3) earned a Top 10 victory with a 4-1 win at No. 9 Texas A&M (12-7) Wednesday at the Mitchell Tennis Center in Bryan-College Station, Texas.

The Buckeyes took the early 1-0 lead after winning at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the doubles point. The Aggies earned a win at No. 1 singles to even the match at 1-all. The Buckeyes then got wins in singles at  No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 to get the team victory.

Doubles
- Ohio State's No. 1-ranked doubles team of Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin faced No. 13 Togan Tokac and Theo Papamalamis of Texas A&M at No. 1 doubles. Ohio State took a 4-2 lead before the Aggies countered to make it 4-3. The Buckeyes made it 5-3 and finished off the set to clinch the doubles point with a 6-3 win. Â
- No. 17 Alex Okonkwo and Alexander Bernard met No. 40 Kholo Montsi and Alex Frusina of Texas A&M. The Buckeyes broke the Aggies to take a 4-2 lead and extended the advantage to 5-2 before taking the match, 6-2.
- No. 28 Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima took on Texas A&M's Markus Molder and Lathan Skrobarcek on Court 3. The Aggies won three-consecutive sets to build a 5-2 advantage before Ohio State clinched leaving the match unfinished.
Singles
- No. 9 Aidan Kim started with a 3-1 lead over No. 30 Theo Papamalamis. The Aggie tied it at 4-all before going up 5-4. Kim tied it at 5-all before Papamalamis won the next two games for a 7-5 victory. The Aggie won set two 6-2 to earn a point for Texas A&M.
- No. 27 Jack Anthrop fell behind 3-1 to No. 51 Kholo Montsi at No. 2 but battled back to even the opening set at 3-all. Anthrop gained a 5-3 advantage before winning the first set 6-4. He jumped to a 4-1 lead in the second set and earned a point for the Buckeyes with a 6-4 victory.
- No. 16 Preston Stearns and No. 68 Alex Frusina went to a tiebreaker in the opening set. Stearns prevailed 7-6(4). The second set was unfinished with Frusina leading 5-1.
- No. 85 Nikita Filin won a back-and-forth opener over Aggie Markus Molder, 7-5. Filin started with a 3-0 lead in the second and got the first singles point for the Buckeyes with a 6-1 victory.
- Alexander Bernard took on Tiago Pires and cruised to a 5-2 win in the opening set at No. 5. Bernard earned the first set win for the Buckeyes, 6-2. Pires sent the match to a third set with a 6-4 victory in the second. Bernard cruised to a 6-0 lead in the third for the win.
- Brandon Carpico won the opening set at No. 6 over Togan Tokac, 6-3. Tokac took the second 6-4. There was no score in the third when the Buckeyes clinched. Â
