No. 2 Buckeyes Fall at No. 12 USC, 4-1

Ohio State now 11-3 on the year, 4-1 in B1G play
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 ranked Ohio State women's tennis team wrapped up its three-match road trip to California with a 4-1 loss at No. 12 USC Sunday in Los Angeles. The Buckeyes are now 11-3 on the year, with a 4-1 Big Ten mark, and the Trojans are 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the league.

USC captured the doubles point and the first two completed matches in straight sets to take a 3-0 lead. The remaining four singles matches went to a third set. Luciana Perry put the Buckeyes on the board with a comeback win but a court six victory gave USC the team win.

- Ohio State will return home to take on No. 24 Duke at noon next Sunday, Rutgers at 2 p.m. March 27 and Maryland at 2 p.m. March 29. Matches are scheduled to be played outside at the Auer Tennis Complex and admission and parking are free.
- USC won the doubles point, picking up matches on courts one and three.
- The Trojans won in straight sets on courts three and one for a 3-0 lead.
- On court three, Eugenia Zozaya defeated Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev, 6-4, 6-2, and No. 38 Jana Hossam won a close match against No. 4 Teah Chavez on court one, 6-4, 6-4.
- The remaining four matches went to a third set.
- Buckeye Luciana Perry, ranked second, rallied after losing the first set to defeat Imma Haddad, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, on court two.
- USC clinched the match with victory from Dani Borruel against Alessia Cau on court six. Borruel won the first set 6-1 before the Buckeye evened the match with a 7-5 second set win. Borruel took the third set 6-1 for the team point.
- The matches on courts four and five were suspended with the Trojans leading in the third set in each.
- The loss was the first for Chavez this spring and she is now 9-1. Perry is 8-2 in dual play.
