Salva-Torres Earns MIVA , AVCA Player of the Week

Middle blocker hit .905 last week against No. 8 Ball State, Purdue Fort Wayne
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Junior Eliel Salva-Torres, a middle blocker for the Ohio State men's volleyball team, earned Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Buckeyes to 3-0 wins over No. 8 Ball State and Purdue Fort Wayne last week.Â
In addition, the American Volleyball Coaches Association selected Salva-Torres as its National Player of the Week. He is the 22nd Buckeyes to earn the national recognition and the first since Jacob Pasteur earned the distinction Jan. 21, 2024.
Salva-Torres hit a blistering .905 in the wins last week with 19 kills. He took 21 swings in the two victories and did not record an error. In addition, he led the defensive efforts with 12 blocks combined in the conference wins.Â
Ohio State travels this week to face No. 15 Lewis and No. 8 Loyola Chicago. The Buckeyes first take on the Flyers at 8 p.m. Thursday in Romeoville, Illinois, before a trip to Chicago to face the Ramblers March 1 (3 p.m.).
