
Buckeyes Win Regular Season Finale at Bemidji State, 6-3

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team closed its 2025-26 regular season with a 6-3 win at Bemidji State Saturday. The Buckeyes finish the regular season 30-4-0 overall and 24-4-0 in conference play with the season sweep of the Beavers (6-25-3, 3-24-1 WCHA).

How it Happened
- Bemidji State took its first lead of the weekend with a goal at 4:27 in the first period.
- Ohio State needed 12 minutes to go back Ohio State tied the game and took the lead within 47 seconds. Maxine Cimoroni was rushing into the Bemidji State zone alongside Sloane Matthews and was taken down in front of the Beaver goal. Matthews knocked the loose puck into the net on the delayed penalty at 15:18.
- Kaia Malachino put the Buckeyes in front at 16:05 after recovering the puck along the half boards in the offensive zone and stick handled her way through two Beavers and past Bemidji State goaltender Groess.
- Ohio State took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
- Bemidji State scored just 14 seconds into the middle frame to tie the game.
- The Buckeyes went back in the lead at 8:39 in the second with a goal from Sara Swiderski. Her initial shot was saved, but the puck escaped Groess' pads and was waiting behind the goaltender to be pushed across the goal line by Swiderski.
- The Ohio State lead doubled just 11 seconds later. After Ohio State won the ensuing faceoff, Emma Peschel sent the puck into the Beavers' zone and along the boards where it found Jocelyn Amos. Amos connected with Maxine Cimoroni at the top of the faceoff circle and Cimoroni sent a shot from the dot past the blocker of Groess.
- Another 1:55 passed before Ohio State scored its third goal of the period. Sloane Matthews won a faceoff in the Bemidji State zone onto the stick of Brooke Disher, who gave the puck to Amos at the top of the zone. Amos sent a pass through a pair of Beavers to Peschel in stride ready to send it over the shoulder of Groess.
- For the third time in the game, Bemidji State was first to score in the period, recording its third goal of the game at 1:17 in the third period. Malachino tallied the team's sixth goal on the empty net at 19:24.
- The win over Bemidji State is Ohio State's 30th win of the season. This marks the fourth 30-win campaign in the last five seasons for the Buckeyes.
- Kaia Malachino finished the series with a team-high five goals. Malachino has at least a point in six of the last seven games and a goal in four of the last five.
