Teams close weekend and regular season series Saturday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's hockey team fell to No. 6 Penn State, 11-4, Friday in game one of a Big Ten Conference series in Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa. It was a one-goal game after the first, with Penn State ahead 2-1. The Nittany Lions outscored Ohio State 6-2 in the second period to take control.

How it Happened
- Penn State goals on the power play at 9:05 and 10:19 put the Nittany Lions up 2-0.
- Buckeye Felix Caron cut the lead to 2-1 at 13:52, scoring from inside the faceoff circles. Riley Thompson and Davis Burnside had the assists on the tally.
- Ohio State led in shots, 18-10, in the first, but trailed 2-1 after 20 minutes.
- The Nittany Lions outscored the Buckeyes 6-2 in the second period.
- After two PSU goals – one on the power play at 2:31 and one at even strength at 3:34 - Caron notched his second of the night, assisted by Sam McGinley and Thompson, for a 4-2 game at 4:54.
- Penn State tallied back-to-back at 6:23 and 7:48 to stretch the lead to 6-2.
- Burnside converted a breakaway at 8:04 for a three-goal game, picking off a PSU pass at the Buckeye blueline.
- Two more Nittany Lion goals, at 16:55 and 19:09, closed out the period with Penn State ahead 8-3.
- Penn State scored at 7:09 of the third, with Buckeye Adam Eisele tallying at 13:25, from Ryan Gordon and James Hong.
- Two power play goals from Penn State in the final 3:34 closed out the game.
- Ohio State led in shots for the game, 42-38. Penn State was ahead in the second, 20-10 and Ohio State had the advantage in the third, 14-8.
- Buckeye goalie Kristoffer Eberly started and had 15 saves, allowing four goals, in 23:31. Sam Hillebrandt made 12 stops on 17 shots in 36:26. Penn State's goalie made 38 saves.
- Penn State was 5-for-6 on the power play, with Ohio State 1-for-4.

- Caron had his second career two-goal game and first since the season opener vs. Northern Michigan. He is third in points with 24, tying for third with 10 goals.
- Thompson had his ninth career game with two or more assists and now has a 9-10-19 line.
- Burnside marked his 24th game with two or more points. He shares the team point lead with 25 and is first with 12 goals.
- Eisele is tied for third with 10 goals this season.
- Gordon is tied for third with 13 assists, a career high.
