
Buckeyes Collect Three Medals on Day Two of Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 11 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team collected three medals on the second night of the Big Ten Championships on Thursday.
Night two opened for the Buckeyes with freshman Carrie Furbee winning the B final of the 100 fly. She touched in an NCAA standard time of 52.20. Lorin Tobler placed seventh in the C final with a time of 52.97.
Defending Big Ten champion Sienna Angove placed fifth in the A final of the 400 IM with an NCAA cut of 4:06.51. In the B final, Paige Delma placed fourth with an NCAA standard time of 4:11.04 and Jessica Eden placed sixth with an NCAA cut of 4:11.39. In the C final, Emma Finlin placed third with an NCAA standard time of 4:13.15. Adair Shaw placed fourth with a time of 4:14.50.
Rachel Bockrath broke her own program record with an NCAA standard time of 1:42.82 to win the bronze medal in the 200 free. She set the previous record of 1:42.92 earlier this season.
In the B final of the 200 free, Erin Little placed fifth with a time of 1:45.63. Delia Lloyd finished second in the C final with a time of 1:46.74, and teammate Mila Nikanorov placed third with a time of 1:47.04.
Maria Ramos was the silver medalist in the 100 breast, touching in an NCAA standard time of 58.22.
In the B final of the 100 breast, Danika Varda placed fifth with a time of 1:00.57.
Two-time defending one-meter champion Lena Hentschel just narrowly missed a third title, winning silver with an aggregate score of 332.35. She was just about four points behind Elna Widerstrom from Minnesota, who placed first with 336.95 points. Hentschel's score is an NCAA Zones qualifier.
In the consolation of the one-meter dive, Mia Prusiecki placed fifth with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 269.80.
The 200 free relay team of KK LeBlanc, Bockrath, Little and Furbee closed out the night with a fourth-place finish; they turned in an automatic NCAA qualifying time of 1:27.94.
After two days of competition, the Buckeyes are in third place with 390 points. They are just eight points behind second-place Indiana (398). Michigan leads with 517.5 points.
The Big Ten Championships continue Feb. 20-21. Prelims begin at 11 a.m. ET and finals begin at 6:30 p.m. ET each day. All sessions can be streamed live on B1G+.
