This is the fourth consecutive season that Kevin McGuff has earned a spot on the watch list.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced the 2026 Werner Ladder Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year Watch List Presented by AXIA Time on Wednesday. Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff was one of 15 coaches on the list and one of just four from the Big Ten.
Â
McGuff has been named to the Naismith Coach of the Year Watch List each of the past four seasons and five times in the past six seasons. The 2024 Big Ten Coach of the Year (coaches & media) was also named a Naismith Coach of the Year semifinalist in 2024. McGuff has led the Buckeyes to more than 20 wins in each of the past five seasons and most recently earned his 500th career win at Washington on Feb. 5.
Â
The Buckeyes have been in the NCAA Tournament each of the last four seasons, reaching their first Elite Eight in 30 years in 2023. McGuff has guided the Buckeyes to a pair of Big Ten Championships in the past five years, sharing the regular season title in 2022 and winning the program's first outright title since 2010 in 2024.
Â
McGuff's team began this season unranked and have climbed into the top 10. Ohio State owns four ranked wins, all four of which happened away from Columbus. The Buckeyes rank in the top five in the conference in six different categories, including leading the league in steals per game (12.5).
