Ohio State wins final three singles matches against Stanford to advance
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 2 Ohio State came back from down 3-1 to defeat No. 4 Stanford 4-3 in the quarterfinals of the ITA Indoor Team National Championship Saturday. The match was played in Dallas at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex at SMU.
The Buckeyes, the No. 1 seed in the SMU bracket, advance to the semifinals Monday to face Virginia, a 4-1 winner over Mississippi State Saturday afternoon. Ohio State defeated then No. 1 Virginia, 5-2, in Columbus Feb. 7 at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The Cavaliers are the No. 2 seed in the SMU bracket.
Ohio State lost its first doubles point of the season after a tiebreaker on court one against the Cardinal. The Buckeyes grabbed the opening singles point to tie it up before Stanford went up 3-1. After wins on courts five and six, Aidan Kim secured the win for Ohio State in the third set on court one.
Ohio State improved to 9-0 overall on the season, the win marked the Buckeyes fourth-consecutive triumph over a Top 5 opponent this year.

The Buckeye win tied up the all-time series against Stanford to 3-all.

- Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima dropped their second match of the dual season against Stanford's Mark Krupkin and Hudson Rivera.
- Despite being down 4-0, Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo battled back and tied the set at 5-5. The match went to 6-6 where Bernard and Okonkwo fell just short in a 7-5 tiebreaker.
- On court two, Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin were up 6-5 against Nicholas Godsick and Jagger Leach before Stanford clinched the doubles point.
- The match remained close in singles with every first set being tied up at 2-all.
- The Buckeyes tied the score at 1-1 after No. 24 Jack Anthrop defeated No. 80 Alex Chang on court two. Anthrop was down 40-15 before fighting off three-consecutive game points. He aced Chang for his second singles victory of the tournament.
- Stanford built a lead after Buckeye losses on courts three and four from Bryce Nakashima and Alexander Bernard. It was Nakashima and Bernard's first singles losses of the dual season.
- With the Cardinal leading 3-1, Nikita Filin won in set one 6-3 before falling in set two 1-6. In the third set, Filin went up 6-5 on serve and defeated Nicholas Godsick, shrinking Stanford's lead to one at 3-2.
- Shortly after that, Brandon Carpico in his second singles match of the season, went 6-2, 6-2 on court six to knot the score at 3-all.
- Aidan Kim fell in the first set 5-7 before a strong performance in the second set in a 6-2 victory. With the match on the line, Kim delivered a 6-4 win in the third set off an ace, advancing the Buckeyes to the semifinals on Monday.
