Gordon scores twice in victory for series split
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two third-period goals lifted the Ohio State men's hockey team to a 3-2 comeback win over No. 13 Wisconsin Saturday in the Schottenstein Center. The Badgers led 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 through two periods. In the third, Jake Karabela tied the game at 3:54 and an unassisted Ryan Gordon score, his second goal of the game, put Ohio State ahead.

The game wrapped up the weekend and regular season series between the Buckeyes (11-16-1, 7-11 B1G) and Badgers (18-10-2, 11-9 B1G).

A Wisconsin power play goal was the only score of the first period. Ryan Gordon tied the game early in the second but a second Bager goal with the man advantage put Wisconsin back ahead at 10:47. In the third, Jake Karabela tied the game at 3:54. At the end of a Buckeye penalty kill, Gordon forced a turnover deep in the Badger zone and he ended up with the puck, driving to the front and converting for a 3-2 Buckeye lead at 8:06. Ohio State held the Badgers off the rest of the way, including nearly three minutes with the UW net empty, to close out the game. Â

The Schedule Ahead
- The Buckeyes will play two games at No. 6/7 Penn State next weekend, with puck drop at 8:30 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday. BTN will carry both games and the series can be heard on Ohio State Radio.
- The following week, Ohio State will play a series at No. 1 Michigan State Feb. 27-28. BTN and Ohio State Radio will broadcast the games. Game one is slated for an 8:30 p.m. puck drop, with game two at 8 p.m.
- The regular season ends for Ohio State March 5-6 at home against Notre Dame, with both games at 6:30 p.m. Game one is Dollar Dog Night and features Script Ohio on Ice, while game two is Senior Night.

How it Happened
- Wisconsin's Simon Tassy scored with just 25 seconds left in the first period for a 1-0 game through 20 minutes. Each team had eight shots and one power play chance in the opening stanza.
- In the second, Bryce Ingles led James Hong up the ice and he set up Gordon for a quick shot from the faceoff circle at 3:11, tying the game at one.
- A Badger power play goal by Vasily Zelenov on a rebound at 10:47 regained the UW lead. Wisconsin outshot the Buckeyes in the second and had the only two power play chances.
- Ohio State freshman Jake Karabela tied the game at 3:54 into the third, as his backhand from near the faceoff dot got through the UW goalie. Felix Caron and Riley Thompson had the assists on the tally.
- Gordon put the Buckeyes ahead at 8:06 with an outstanding individual effort. At the end of a penalty kill, he raced down the ice and forced the Badger defenseman to turn over the puck, with Gordon picking it up and scoring from the high slot.
- Wisconsin pulled its goalie with 2:43 left in the third. Four saves by Kristoffer Eberly and blocks from Davis Burnside and Gordon helped close out the win.
- For the game, Wisconsin led in shots, 27-23. Eberly made 25 saves in all 60 minutes and UW's Eli Pulver made 20 stops in 57:17.
- Ohio State was scoreless on one power play chance and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
- The Buckeyes blocked 15 shots – Gordon led with three, while Chris Able, Nathan McBrayer, Burnside, Sam McGinley and William Smith each had two.  Â

- Gordon had his second career two-goal game and first since Feb. 7, 2025 at Notre Dame. He has a career-high 16 points this year, with four goals and 12 assists.
- The Buckeyes are now 4-8 in one-goal games this year.
