COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State continues its spring portion of the schedule this week by competing in another strong field at the Watersound Invitational. The 54-hole event, which is being played at the Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City, Fla., starts on Monday and the final round will be played on Wednesday.
- The Buckeyes last played in the event in 2024, finishing seventh being a Top 10 finish from Jackson Chandler.
- Ohio State will have the same starting lineup as last week, which consists of Jack Vojtko, Tyler Sabo, Vaughn Harber, Joe Wilson IV and Timotej Formanek. Freshman Giedrius Mackelis will play as an individual this week.
- The Buckeyes are coming off a sixth-place finish in a very good field at the Puerto Rico Classic last week. All five Buckeyes finished the event under par, led by Formanek at 8-under par. Harber led the team in the opening round with a career-low 65 as the Buckeyes shot a 21-under 267, one of the lowest rounds in program history.
- Formanek posted three under-par rounds of 69-69-70 to finish in a tie for 18th in Puerto Rico. This was the second tournament of his young career with three under-par rounds.
- Vaughn Harber and Tyler Sabo each finished a shot behind Formanek at 7-under par and tied for 23rd. Sabo made 18 birdies for the week, which was the most birdies he’s made in any event in his career. Harber finished with 14 birdies the 209 was his lowest 54-hole in his career.
- Joe Wilson IV had three rounds at par or better in Puerto Rico as he finished at 4-under par. That was the fourth event of his career in which he finished under-par. He is averaging 72.13 on the season.
- Jack Vojtko opened the Puerto Rico Classic with a 5-under 67, the lowest round of his year. He went on to finish at 1-under par for the event.
- Giedrius Mackelis played in three events in the fall, holding a 73.00 scoring average. He posted a pair of rounds of 69 and had a 35th place finish at the Windon Memorial Classic.
- The forecast for the week looks dry with temperatures in the upper-60s.
