Buckeyes play host to No. 2 Virginia Saturday in Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 6 Ohio State downed No. 1 Wake Forest 4-0 Sunday at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center to remain undefeated at 6-0.
There were 850 fans in attendance at the match, a program record for the facility.
The Buckeyes and Demon Deacons remained close in doubles, but Ohio State prevailed for the point with wins on courts 2 & 3.
Ohio State kept the momentum going, winning six of the opening singles games in each match before earning set victories on courts 2, 4 and 6.
Nikita Filin clinched the match for Ohio State for the second time this weekend. Filin and Bryce Nakashima led the Buckeyes with two wins on the day.
Ohio State improved its all-time record against Wake Forest to 14-5 while winning the past eight-of-nine matches.
The last time the Buckeyes beat the No. 1 overall team was in 2022 against Tennessee, Ohio State swept the Volunteers 4-0 at home.

- Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin got out to a quick 5-0 lead and secured a 6-1 victory for the Buckeyes first doubles win on Court 2.
- Despite holding a 2-1 lead, Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo dropped their first doubles match of the season against the No. 4 ranked doubles team of DK Suresh Ekambaram and Andrew Delgado. Bernard and Okonkwo are 4-1 this season.
- With the doubles point on the line, Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima won four-consecutive points to clinch a 6-3 win, giving Ohio State a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Ohio State kept momentum going into singles with all six Buckeyes winning the first game.
- Bryce Nakashima grabbed the first singles win for the Buckeyes after beating the Demon Deacons Mees Rottgering, 6-2, 6-2.
- Preston Stearns won his second singles match of the weekend after cruising to a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
- For the second time this weekend, Nikita Filin clinched the win for the Buckeyes. After a long 7-6 first set win, Filin got ahead quick in the second set, taking a 5-3 lead and won the set on court 6, 6-4
