The 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship is set for Nov. 6-16 in Denmark. Current Ohio State student-athletes and Buckeye alumnae will play for their national teams in this year's tournament.
Canada and Sweden have announced their rosters, with six Buckeyes confirmed to take the world championship ice in November.
Team Canada
Three Buckeyes will skate for Team Canada at the world championship. Hayley McDonald makes her senior national team debut at this year's tournament and is one of six NCAA players on the team's roster. McDonald previously played in the U18 Women's World Championship tournament, winning gold in 2025 and silver in 2026
Emma Maltais and Sophie Jaques, both 2023 Ohio State graduates, join McDonald on the roster. Maltais is making her sixth World Championships appearance and Jaques is playing in her second. Maltais has been a member of three gold medal teams (2021, 2022, 2024) and the duo were both members of the 2024 silver medal finish for Canada.
Team Sweden
The Buckeyes' Swedish trio of Mira Jungåker, Jenna Raunio and Hilda Svensson have all earned spots on Sweden's World Championships roster. The three players also skated for their home country at the 2026 Olympics. The Buckeyes are three of five NCAA players on this year's roster. This roster will also play in the next stage of the Euro Hockey Tour, the Lidl Hockey Games, Oct. 28-31 in Sweden.
The 2026 world championship is Raunio's second, Svensson's fourth and Jungåker's fifth.
