How it Happened
- Hilda Svensson opened the scoring on Saturday. She won the puck back deep inside the Colgate zone and skated around the zone before firing off a shot from the top of the slot that crossed the goal line at 9:20.
- The Buckeyes unleashed in the second period, scoring six goals in the frame. Hayley McDonald, Ema Tóthová and Sydney Sawyer bookended the period with their first career goals.
- McDonald redirected a shot from Maxine Cimoroni at 1:18 on the power play to get the scoring started early. Ohio State nearly scored another power play goal as Sawyer found the back of the net at 16:44, right as the player advantage ended. For Tóthová's goal, she skated the puck from end to end and beat a Colgate defender and the blocker of the Raider netminder to light the lamp with a minute remaining in the period.
- Ohio State scored its first three goals of the second period on special teams. Following McDonald's power play goal, Jocelyn Amos recorded a shorthanded goal at 5:34 and one on the power play at 6:58. With under 20 seconds left in the team's second penalty kill of the game, Joy Dunne and Amos skated into the Raiders' zone for a two-on-one. Dunne's shot was rebounded onto Amos's stick and Amos buried it for the 3-0 Ohio State advantage. Amos won the opening faceoff of the team's second power play of the day and knocked the puck back to Mira Jungåker. Jungåker sent a shot wide of the net and Amos knocked it in for her second goal in under two minutes.
- For her second goal of the weekend and Ohio State's fifith of the game, Kaia Malachino capitalized on chaos in front of the net, putting away a loose puck at 10:56.
- The Buckeyes' six goals came on 19 shots in the frame. Buckeye goalie Taylor Kressin turned away all six shots from the Raiders.
- Sawyer added her second goal of the game with the lone goal of the third period. For the second time on the day, she found the back of the net just seconds after an Ohio State power play expired, this time scoring at 16:35 off a shot from the top of the faceoff circle.
- Despite only facing 15 shots on the day, Kressin stopped a handful of Colgate breakaways to come away with the shutout.
- With her first period goal, Svensson has now scored in eight of the Buckeyes' 10 games this season.
- For the second time in her career, Amos has scored both a shorthanded goal and a power play goal in a single game. The last time she achieved the feat was Oct. 26, 2024 in a 7-3 win over Cornell.
- McDonald and Tóthová are the second and third Buckeye rookies to score this season.
- Sawyer's two goals also mark her second career multi-point game with a career-high tying two points on the day. Macy Rasmussen and Jordan Baxter also recorded career-high two-point games Saturday against the Raiders.
- Taylor Kressin made 15 saves for her second shutout of the weekend. Ohio State earned a series shutout of an opponent for the first time since Jan. 10-11, 2025 against Bemidji State. Kressin improves to 4-0-0 on the year.
