How it Happened
- The Buckeyes were on the board with a first period power play goal from Kaia Malachino. Kate Viel took a shot from the faceoff circle and Maxine Cimoroni was first to the rebounded puck. Colgate netminder Brooke Davis turned away Cimoroni's attempt before Malachino put the second rebound into the goal at 14:45.
- Ohio State dominated the opening frame by outshooting Colgate, 19-2, in the first 20 minutes of play.
- Ohio State strengthened its lead with a pair of goals in the second. Hilda Svensson capitalized on another loose puck in front of the Raiders' goal, finding the back of the net at 3:44. Less than five minutes later, on the penalty kill, Ohio State took the 3-0 lead with a shorthanded goal from Jocelyn Amos at 8:18.
- The Buckeyes limited the Raiders to only four shots in the second, all of which were turned away by Kressin.
- Neither team found the back of the net in the third period for the final 3-0 score. The Buckeye defense stood strong, allowing only three shots in the frame with Kressin there to stop each one.
- Amos' first goal of the season was the team's first shorthanded goal this year. Amos has four shorthanded goals for her career.
- Kressin improves to 3-0-0 on the year and 9-0-0 for her career. The shutout is her second of her career and the team's first of the season.
- In addition to scoring the shorthanded goal, Ohio State's penalty kill didn't give up a shot on goal on either power play Friday.
- Colgate is the first opponent Ohio State has held to single digit shots on goal this season.
