
No. 2 Ohio State Sweeps No. 9 Minnesota Duluth With 3-1 Win

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team completed the season sweep of No. 9 Minnesota Duluth with a 3-1 win Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink.
Short Story
The Buckeyes (25-3-0, 19-3-0 WCHA) tallied a goal in each period and allowed the Bulldogs (13-12-3, 9-10-3 WCHA) just one goal in the first period to come away with their eighth straight win. The team had three different goal scorers and six players record a point in the contest.
Game two between the teams was just as tight, with Ohio State outshooting Minnesota by a slight edge, 37-33. Ohio State goaltender Hailey MacLeod recorded another season-best performance, making 32 saves for the second time on the weekend to hold Minnesota Duluth to a single goal.

How it Happened
- The opening frame was statistically even with both teams scoring a goal, recording 10 shots on goal and taking one penalty.
- Jordan Baxter scored the first goal of the game at 11:23 in the first period off assists from Jordyn Petrie and Kaia Malachino. Petrie regained possession for the Buckeyes behind the Minnesota Duluth goal and knocked the puck above the goal line to Baxter, who was at the top of the goalie crease ready to send the puck past netminder Eve Gascon.
- The Bulldogs tied the game with 1:59 to play in the period to keep the score even at the first intermission.
- For the second time this weekend, Joceyln Amos was the first to score in the second period, recording her fourth goal of the weekend 1:24 into the middle frame. She sent a shot under the pad of Gascon that trickled over the goal line to put the Buckeyes back in front.
- Ohio State was outshot, 16-12, in the middle frame but MacLeod continued to hold off the Minnesota Duluth pressure.
- Kaia Malachino recorded the third and final goal of the game in the third period with a power play goal at 13:50. She was assisted by Sloane Matthews and Cimoroni.
- Malachino's goal was her first on the power play as a Buckeye and the seventh power play goal of her career.
- MacLeod is now 14-2-0 on the year and has recorded a win in the last five games she has played.
- Amos and Cimoroni led the team with five points on the weekend. Cimoroni recorded a team-high five assists while Amos scored four goals and added a helper.
