Ohio State rallied with two goals in final four minutes; Burnside recorded point 100
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's hockey dropped a heartbreaker Saturday, rallying late in the third before suffering a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 1 Michigan.

The Wolverines led 1-0 after the first period and doubled the lead halfway through the third. Buckeyes Felix Caron and Nathan McBrayer tallied in less than three minutes to deadlock the score with 3:15 remaining but Michigan (22-4, 13-3 B1G) notched the gamewinner 2:50 into overtime. The game, which had a season-high attendance of 8,188 in the Schottenstein Center, was the seventh overtime contest of the year for Ohio State (8-15-1, 4-10 B1G).

Burnside Joins Century Club
Buckeye senior captain Davis Burnside assisted on both Ohio State goals to reach the 100-point mark for his career. He is the sixth Buckeye to hit the century mark in the last 10 years and the first since Tanner Laczynski (2017-20). Burnside has 46 goals and 55 assists for 101 points in 142 games in the Scarlet and Gray. He had two points in each game vs. Michigan this weekend and leads Ohio State with 21 points (9g, 12a).

A Michigan shorthanded tally at 17:43 was the only goal of the first period and neither team scored in the second. At 10:30 of the third the Wolverines took a 2-0 lead. Felix Caron notched a power play goal for the Buckeyes at 14:16 and at 16:45 Nathan McBrayer tied the game at two. Michigan tallied the gamewinner at 2:50 of the 3x3 overtime.

- Ohio State will play two games at Minnesota next weekend, with puck drop at 8 p.m. ET Friday and 9 p.m. ET Saturday. B1G+ will stream game one and BTN will televise game two. Ohio State Radio will carry both games of the series.

- The only goal of the first period was a shorthanded score by Michigan's Nick Moldenhauer at 17:43.
- Shots were 10-6 in favor of the Buckeyes in the opening 20 minutes.

- At 2:50 of overtime, Moldenhauer notched his second of the game to give the Wolverines the win. Michigan had three shots in the overtime, Ohio State two.
- Ohio State led in shots, 34-24. Sam Hillenbrandt played 62:50 and had 21 saves for the Buckeyes. Riley Thompson led the Buckeyes with two shot blocks and Ohio State combined for eight as a team.
- The Buckeye penalty kill held the Wolverines, who were second in the nation on the power play entering the weekend, scoreless on four chances. The Buckeyes were 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
- Davis Burnside took over the team point lead with his second straight two-point night. He is first with 21 points, tying for second with nine goals and 12 assists. It was his fifth career two-assist night and his 22nd multiple-point outing as a Buckeye.
- The Buckeyes are 1-5-1 in overtime games this season.
