Buckeyes Set for Two Games at Minnesota

The Basics
- The Ohio State men's hockey team hits the road for two games at Minnesota this weekend.Â
- The teams will meet at 8 p.m. ET Friday and 9 p.m. ET Saturday in 3M Arena at Mariucci
- Game one will be streamed by B1G+ and BTN will televise game two.Â

- Ohio State is 8-15-1 on the year (4-10, 14 points Big Ten) and is coming off two losses against No. 1 Michigan (4-6, 2-3 OT) last week. Minnesota is 10-16-1 overall and 6-10 in B1G play (20 points). The Gophers swept No. 8/7 Wisconsin at home last weekend with 4-1 and 8-4 victories.Â
- Ohio State has three road series and two home series left in the regular season. The Buckeyes wrapped up their season series with Michigan last weekend, with two games left vs. the other Big Ten teams.Â
- Last Saturday was the Buckeyes' seventh overtime contest of the season. The squad is 1-5-1 in overtime contests this year.
- With four points on the weekend, including two assists Saturday, Davis Burnside joined the Century Club for the Buckeyes. He has 46 goals and 55 assists for 101 points in 142 games in the Scarlet and Gray. Burnside is the sixth Buckeye to hit the 100-point mark in the last 10 years and the first since Tanner Laczynski (2017-20). He took over the team point lead last weekend and now has 21 points on the year. Â
- The Buckeyes are scoring 2.91 goals per game this season, allowing 3.58 a contest.Â
- The power play is 17th nationally, converting 23.6 percent of its chances. The penalty kill has stopped 76.6 percent of its opponents' opportunities. Ohio State averages 11.67 penalty minutes a game.Â
- The Buckeyes are 15th nationally in faceoff winning percentage (.525).
- Davis Burnside leads the team with 21 points, followed by Jake Karabela with 20. Max Montes and Felix Caron are tied for third with 18 each.Â
- Montes has a team-best 10 goals, with Burnside and Adam Eisele tied for second with nine apiece.Â
- Karabela is first with 14 helpers this season, with Burnside and Broten Sabo tied for second with 12 helpers.Â
- The Gophers lead the all-time series, 51-13-6, and in Minneaplis, Minnesota is ahead 19-8-3.Â
- The series between Ohio State and Minnesota dates to 1968 but 64 of the 70 games have been since 1999.
- Earlier this season, the squads split a series in Columbus Dec. 4-5. Minnesota won game one 6-3 before a 6-5 Buckeye overtime victory.Â
- The teams last met on Gopher home ice Feb. 21-22, 2025, with Minnesota posting a sweep with 4-1 and 6-3 wins.
- Davis Burnside leads the current Buckeyes with 14 games played against Minnesota, ranking first with five goals and second with seven points. Max Montes has a 4-4-8 line in 10 career games vs. the Gophers. Sam Deckhut and Thomas Weis have also played 10 games against Minnesota. Nathan McBrayer has a 2-2-4 line in nine games vs. the Gophers. Felix Caron had two goals and three points in the series vs. Minnesota in December, while Jake Karabela had a goal (the overtime winner) and two assists in his first series vs. the Gophers.Â

- Brodie Ziemer is first in the NCAA with 10 power play goals and leads Minnesota with 18 goals and 27 points on the year Brody Lamb is second with 26 points (12g, 14a) and LJ Mooney is first with 18 assists and third with 24 points.Â
- The Buckeyes will host No. 8/7 Wisconsin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14. Game one vs. the Badgers is Dollar Dog Night with $1 hot dogs and it is Pucks 'n Paws Night when fans can purchase a ticket to bring their furry friend to the game. Game two vs. Wisconsin is Skate & Date, featuring a free postgame skate (fans must bring their own skates).Â
- Ohio State will then be on the road for back-to-back series at Penn State Feb. 20-21 and at Michigan State Feb. 27-28.
- The regular season ends March 5-6 at home against Notre Dame, with both games at 6:30 p.m. Game one is Dollar Dog Night and features Script Ohio on Ice, while game two is Senior Night. Â
