No. 10 Buckeyes Host No. 15 Cavaliers Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State women's tennis team welcomes No. 15 Virginia for a match this weekend. The teams will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Admission and parking are free. At the match, fans can enter to win a suite for the Feb. 25 Ohio State women's basketball game vs. Michigan, as well as enter to win an espresso machine.

The Buckeyes are 1-0 on the year after a win over Iowa last Sunday to earn a spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The Cavaliers are 5-1 and will play at No. 13 Michigan Friday before traveling to Columbus.

- The Buckeyes moved up to No. 10 in the ITA Coaches Poll this week. The squad started at No. 13 and was No. 12 last week.
- In the singles rankings released following the fall, four Buckeyes were ranked in singles, with two ranked doubles teams. Luciana Perry is No. 10 in singles, with Teah Chavez No. 14, Nao Nishino No. 68 and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev No. 91.
- Perry and Chavez are ranked 29th in doubles and the tandem of Audrey Spencer and Nishino is 65th.
- The next set of singles and doubles rankings will be released Feb. 4.
Johnson Named B1G Freshman of the Week
- Flora Johnson was selected the Big Ten Freshman of the Week Wednesday.
- In her collegiate dual debut, Johnson clinched the Buckeyes' win over Iowa to send Ohio State to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
- She posted a 6-0, 6-3 win against Iowa's Sally Xu, securing the fourth point in a 4-0 victory.
ITA National Team Indoors Up Next
- Ohio State earned one of 16 spots in the ITA Team Indoor Championship.
- The opening rounds will be held Feb. 6-8 in Champaign and Evanston, Ill., with Ohio State heading to Champaign.
- Two teams from each site will advance to the semifinals Feb. 9, with the final Feb. 10.
- Northwestern will serve as the host for the final two rounds.
- The Buckeyes' next home match is against No. 9 NC State at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Admission and parking are free.
