COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State has signed an extension with the CBS Sports Classic through 2029. The annual event, which started in 2014, has also announced the addition of Kansas to its four-team rotation.
Ohio State and Kansas will square-off in the event next season on Dec. 19 in Madison Square Garden. The Buckeyes will face Kentucky in 2027, North Carolina in 2028 and Kansas again in 2029. Locations for those games will be announced at a later date.
Ohio State and Kansas have played 10 times with the Jayhawks holding a 7-3 edge in the series. The most recent meetings came during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons when the teams met three times. Kansas won both ends of the home-and-home regular series and then also won 64-62 in the 2012 Final Four in New Orleans.
Overall, the Buckeyes are 6-5 in their 11 appearances in the CBS Sports Classic. The 6-5 mark is the second-best record as North Carolina leads the way at 8-4 while Kentucky is 6-6. UCLA and St. John’s have also participated in the event in previous years. The Buckeyes have won five of their last seven contests in the CBS Sports Classic, after falling 71-70 to North Carolina last month in Atlanta.
