Ohio State to Host Butler in Exhibition Game Oct. 25

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will host Butler in an exhibition contest on Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Schottenstein Center. Game time and TV assignment will be announced at a later date.
This will be Ohio State’s second exhibition game of the 2026-27 preseason as it will also play Cincinnati in the previously announced CareSource Invitational on Oct. 7.
Ohio State and Butler have met 42 times during the regular season with the first meeting coming in 1924. The most recent meeting was on Nov. 26, 2017, in the PK80 event in Portland, Ore.
Butler and Ohio State have had many ties over the years. Recently retired Butler head coach Thad Matta is Ohio State’s all-time wins leader with 337 and he led the Buckeyes to five Big Ten titles and nine NCAA Tournament appearances from 2005-17. Jon Diebler, current Butler assistant coach and brother of Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler, scored 1,536 points and hit a program record 374 three-pointers for the Buckeyes from 2007-11.
Tickets for the game against Butler will be included with a 2026-27 season ticket package. Single-game tickets for the game will go on sale later this fall.
