Learn more about Alex:
What age did you start playing lacrosse?
"I started playing lacrosse when I was around six-years-old. I grew up playing hockey and wanted to be a professional hockey player but quickly fell in love with lacrosse once I started playing. I was introduced to lacrosse by my next door neighbor, Callum Jones, who now currently plays professional box lacrosse with my brother for the Ottawa Black Bears in the NLL."
What's your favorite thing about the sport?
"My favorite thing about lacrosse is how creative and physical the game can be. There is no other sport that matches the level of creativity that lacrosse has. The stick is like an extension of our body which allows us to do some pretty amazing things. The sport is also as physical as any other sport which makes it very fun to watch and play."
Why did you choose to come to Ohio State?
"I chose to come to Ohio State because of the elite competitive culture and the investment that the staff makes into us not only as players, but as people. I truly believe that there is no better culture to be a part of which has no doubt shaped me into the person that I am today. Pair this with one of the best athletics departments in the world and it makes Ohio State a truly amazing place to be. My time at Ohio State has been surreal and I am excited for one last year with the team."
How have you seen yourself grow in your time at Ohio State?
"My journey as a player has been interesting. I transitioned from a long stick defenseman to an attackman after my sophomore year which was quite a steep learning curve. Switching positions was difficult but felt like a new opportunity for me to grow as a player. I can not thank the coaching staff enough for sticking with me and putting me in the best positions possible to be successful. Coming in to Ohio State at 17 years old was difficult as well. Now at 22, I can look back on my time and say that Ohio State has shaped me into a person that I am proud of today. The program has helped me develop personal skills and attributes that I will carry with me during my career and with all other aspects of my life. I am truly thankful for my time as a Buckeye and how it has developed me into the person I am today."
What makes Ohio State special?
"What makes Ohio State special is the unwavering commitment to personal, academic and athletic success. The staff and support staff at Ohio State are second to none and provide us with all of the tools necessary to be successful in all aspects of our lives. Not to mention, the incredible support of Buckeye Nation and our fans, which makes it the best place to compete in college athletics."
What is something not everyone knows about you?
"One thing that not everyone knows about me is that I am very passionate about commercial real estate and my career. After the upcoming season, I will be working full-time as a commercial real estate broker in Toronto, Ontario."
What went into the decision to come back for one more season and why did you ultimately choose to return for another season?
"There really was not much that went into my decision to come back. For me, it was a no brainer. When I was granted another year of eligibility, there was nothing that was going to stop me from coming back. This place means so much to me and there wasn't any that I was going to miss an opportunity to come back and compete."
What is your favorite Ohio State tradition?
"My favorite Ohio State tradition is singing the Buckeye Battle Cry after every win. In my opinion, there is no better feeling than coming into the locker room after a win and singing the Buckeye Battle Cry as a team."
What excites you about the 2026 season?
"What excites me the most about the 2026 season is simply chasing our best day in and day out. Each day we come into practice trying to build and be a little bit better than the day before. We understand that if we do this, everything else will take care of itself."
