Ohio State Opens Home Slate Sunday Against No. 12 Florida

The Buckeyes encourage fans to wear black and stick around after the match for a meet and greet with the team.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (1-2) hosts No. 12 Florida (3-1) in its home opener on Sunday at noon. The match will be broadcast live on BTN. Parking is free in the lots across the street.

Fans are encouraged to wear black and arrive early as the first 2,500 fans will receive a free rally towel. The first 400 Ohio State students entering through the southeast entrance will receive a free bucket hat. After the match, the Buckeyes will stick around for a meet and greet on the concourse.

- Ohio State earned its first win of the season on the road against Miami (OH) in five sets (15-25, 27-25, 25-27, 27-25, 15-3) on Wednesday. Facing RedHawk match point in the fourth set, the Buckeyes scored the next three points to force a fifth set and then went on an 11-0 run in that fifth set to put the match away.Â
- The Buckeyes' win against the RedHawks featured depth of talent and career-highs. Ohio State had three players record double-figure kills and three record double-figure digs.
- Hannah Jones led the OSU offense with a career-high 26 kills, while Mia Tuman had a career-high 58 assists. Reese Wuebker recorded career-highs in both kills (13) and digs (13). Tuman added 12 digs for a double-double. Olivia Hasbrook tied the match-high 16 digs.
- Florida enters the match with a 3-1 record this season, beating then No. 3 Pitt, Norfolk State and USF. The Gators' only loss was to then No. 6 Stanford in four sets in the season opener on Aug. 22.
- The Gators' win over Pitt was a five-set thriller (19-25, 25-15, 15-25, 26-24, 15-13) that featured seven ties in the fifth set alone. Trailing 13-12 in the fifth set, Florida scored the final three points to win the match.
- Jordyn Byrd leads Florida's offense with 4.00 kills/set, while setter Alexis Stucky is averaging 9.25 assists/set.
- Defensively, Lily Hayes' 3.44 digs/set and Alec Roth's 1.19 blocks/set lead the team.
- Ohio State trails 1-4 in the all-time series against Florida. This will be the first meeting of the series to take place in Columbus.
- The teams most recently played last season in Gainesville when Florida won in four sets (20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21).
- The Buckeyes' win came on September 4, 1998 in five sets (9-15, 11-15, 15-4, 15-4, 20-18) at a neutral site.
