Ohio State Falls to No. 12 Florida in Sunday’s Home Opener

The Buckeyes faced their first ranked opponent of the season in front of a crowd of 3,324 on Sunday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (1-3) fell in three sets (23-25, 20-25, 14-25) to No. 12 Florida (4-1) in the Buckeyes' home opener on Sunday afternoon.
The first set was a back-and-forth battle with 13 ties and no lead greater than two points with Florida claiming a 25-23 set win. The Gators took an early lead in the second set and earned a 25-20 set win. Florida took control of the third set early and captured a 25-14 set win to close the match.

- S1: Florida opened the match with the first two points before Ohio State used a pair of 3-0 runs to take an early 9-6 lead. The Gators used back-to-back points to take a 15-13 lead into the media timeout. The Buckeyes scored back-to-back points to take a 22-20 lead, but the Gators captured a 25-23 set win with the final two points of the set.
- S2: The Gators used a 6-0 run early in the set to take a 7-3 lead before the Buckeyes battled back to tie the set at 10-10. Ohio State tied the set again at points 13 and 17, with the latter happening due to a successful OSU challenge. Florida scored the next three points to reach 20 first and Ohio State tied the set for a sixth time at 20. The Gators earned a 25-20 set win.
- S3: Florida used a 3-0 run to take a 4-2 lead and held the lead for the remainder of the set. The Buckeyes were able to get within two at 10-8 but the Gators extended their lead to 15-9 at the media timeout. Florida scored the final six points of the set to earn a 25-14 set win and cap the match.
- This is Ohio State's first time this season playing a ranked opponent.
- Hannah Jones was the first in the match to reach 10 kills, doing so for the second time this season and finishing with 12 kills.
- Olivia Hasbrook recorded double-figure digs for the second time this season, totaling 11 digs today.
- Kaia Castle led the Buckeyes in offensive efficiency, hitting an even .500 (eight kills on 12 attacks with two errors).
- S1: The set was tight from start-to-finish with neither team leading by more than two points amidst 13 ties and four lead changes. Jones (six kills) and Kaia Castle (five kills) led the Buckeye offense in the set.
- S2: At the end of the set, Jones was tied for the match-high nine kills.
- The Buckeyes are back on the road next weekend for the Beavercreek Invitational, hosted by Wright State. Ohio State will face Ohio on Friday at 3 p.m. and Wright State on Saturday at 5 p.m.
