
Buckeyes Battle for Five-Set Win at Miami (OH)

Ohio State earned its first win of the season in five sets on Wednesday night on the back of Hannah Jones’ career-high 26 kills.
OXFORD, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (1-2) won a five-set nail-biter (15-25, 27-25, 25-27, 27-25, 15-3) against Miami (OH) (3-1) in the midweek in-state matchup on the road.

Miami (OH) grabbed the lead early in the first set and claimed a 25-15 set win to begin the match. Ohio State evened the match with a 27-25 victory in the second set. Miami (OH) flipped the script in a close third set, winning by a 27-25 margin. The fourth set was just as tight, being tied at each of the first 16 points before the Buckeyes won nail-biter 27-25 decision by scoring the final three points to force a fifth set. Ohio State dominated the fifth set, winning by a 15-3 margin to win the match.

Set-by-Set Recap
- S1: After Ohio State scored the opening point, Miami (OH) built an early 11-5 advantage. The Buckeyes were able to get within two at 13-11 but the RedHawks strung together an 11-2 run to take a commanding 24-13 lead and earned a 25-15 set win.
- S2: The second set was wire-to-wire with neither team leading by more than two points throughout the set. Miami (OH) held the narrow 15-14 advantage at the media timeout. The teams traded pairs of points and the lead before the Buckeyes used a 4-0 run to take a 22-20 lead. The set was tied on points 22 through 25 before Ohio State sealed a 27-25 set win on a kill from Hannah Jones.
- S3: Miami (OH) took an early 6-3 lead in the set before Ohio State tied the set at six points apiece. Each team held a narrow lead as the set went back-and-forth before a 3-0 RedHawk run gave Miami (OH) an 18-15 lead. The Buckeyes scored four unanswered points to tie the set at 22, but the RedHawks gained the match advantage with a 27-25 set win.
- S4: Each team held a one-point lead early as the set was tied at every point until a 4-0 Ohio State run gave the Buckeyes a 19-16 advantage. OSU led by a 24-20 margin before the RedHawks scored the next five points to take a 25-24 lead. The Buckeyes scored the final three points of the set to capture a 27-25 set win and force a fifth set.
- S5: After Miami (OH) scored the opening point, Ohio State rattled off the next 11 points to take control of the set. Jones' 26th kill of the night sealed the match with a 15-3 win in the set.
- The match saw a program record 2,550 fans in attendance at Millett Hall.
- The Buckeyes showed their depth with three players with 10 or more kills and three players with 10 or more digs.
- Mia Tuman earned the Buckeyes' first double-double of the season with a career-high 58 assists and 12 digs.
- Reese Wuebker totaled a career-high 13 kills and joined Tuman with a double-double by adding a career-high 13 digs.

- Magdalena Juric tallied her first kill as a Buckeye and ended the match with five kills.
- Olivia Hasbrook notched her first multi-ace match of the season with two aces.
- S1: Six different Buckeyes recorded a kill in the set.
- S2: Neither team led by more than two points during the set as the set totaled 19 ties.
- S3: The set featured 17 ties.
- S4: The set was tied at every point until 16-16. The RedHawks fought off four set points and took a 25-24 lead to have match point before the Buckeyes scored the final three points of the set to force a fifth set.
- S5: Ohio State used an 11-0 run to take control of the set.
- Ohio State hosts No. 12 Florida in the Buckeyes' home opener on Sunday at noon. The match will be broadcast live on BTN. Fans are encouraged to wear black and arrive early as the first 2,500 fans will receive a rally towel. After the match, the Buckeyes will host a meet and greet on the concourse.
