Formanek Leads Buckeyes on Day 1 of Windon Memorial

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Timotej Formanek fired under-par rounds of 70 and 67 to lead the Buckeyes through 36 holes of the Windon Memorial Classic on Tuesday at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
Formanek opened the day 3-over through his first two holes but then played 9-under par the rest of the way and is tied for third at 7-under par. The 5-under 67 in the second round, which included seven birdies, was the lowest round of his career. He made a total of 12 birdies on the day.
Freshman Giedrius Mackelis posted his first under-par round as a Buckeye, shooting a second round 69 and is tied for 22nd at 3-under par. Joe Wilson IV is the third Buckeye under par through 36 holes as he posted rounds of 72-71 and is 1-under.
Tyler Sabo rebounded from an opening round 76 with a 72 in the afternoon and is tied for 68th at 4-over. Vaugh Harber rounded out the Buckeyes with rounds of 75-76.
The Buckeyes are in ninth place in the 16-team field following rounds of 289 and 9-under 279.
