COLUMBUS, Ohio – After opening the season last week in Michigan, the Ohio State men’s golf team returns to Ohio this week for the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati. The 54-hole event, which runs Monday and Tuesday, will be played at Coldstream Country Club.
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will Tyler Sabo, Vaughn Harber, Joe Wilson IV, Timotej Formanek and Giedrius Mackelis. Topher Reed will play as an individual.
- Sabo and Reed led the Buckeyes last week at the Fold of Honor Collegiate, finishing 28th at 7-over par. Sabo made the most birdies on the team with 12 and Reed had the lone sub-70 round, posting a final round 69.
- Harber played in every event last season as a freshman and finished second with a 72.94 scoring average. He will be making his season debut this week.
- Mackelis, a freshman from Vilnius, Lithuania, will be making his Buckeye debut. He was the No. 1 ranked amateur in Lithuania and rose to as high as No. 474 in the WAGR during his prep career.
- Ohio State finished 10th as a team last week at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.
- The Buckeyes have won each of their last two events in the state of Ohio. They won the Buckeye Classic and the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in back-to-back weeks last April.
