FIRST AND TEN
- No. 3 (Associated Press) Ohio State hosts No. 1 Texas in a huge and much anticipated 2025 season-opening game Saturday, Aug. 30, at 12 noon at Ohio Stadium. FOX will broadcast the game to a national audience.
- Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press poll, but No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, and so this game represents the 63rd No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in college football history.
- The two teams met 232 days ago – Jan. 10 – at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl in a CFP semifinal won by Ohio State, 28-14.
- An iconic moment of that Cotton Bowl, Jack Sawyer's 83-yard fumble return TD with 2:13 to play and Ohio State leading 21-14, has been "flavorized" into a new concession stand menu item at Ohio Stadium: "Scoop N Score Nachos".
- In addition to a Week 3 game next year at Texas, Ohio State has home and home football series scheduled against Alabama in 2027-28 and Georgia in 2030-31.
- Ohio State is 6-14 all-time vs. SEC-member institutions, including a program first in 2025: multiple victories over SEC teams in one year.
- Fans are being asked to wear scarlet and Scarlet the 'Shoe, and to wave THE Towel.
BY THE NUMBERS

79-80: Ryan Day's Ohio State Buckeye teams have been ranked in the Top 10 of the Associated Press poll for 79 of his 80 games coached. The only blip: the team was ranked 11th for the Oct. 2, 2021 game vs. Rutgers.
8-2-1: Ohio State (4-1) and Texas (4-1-1) have impressive records in matchups between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation, but both have lost last: Ohio State to Florida in 2007; Texas to Ohio State in 2006.Â
