
Buckeyes Collect Five Medals at World University Games

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Seven Ohio State swimmers and divers are were in Germany to compete in the World University Games. The Buckeyes collected five medals over the course of competition.Â

- Lena Hentschel and her diving partner won gold for Team Germany in the mixed 3-meter synchronized dive with a score of 288.21.Â
- Hentschel won her second medal of the meet with her and her diving partner earning bronze in the 3-meter synchronized dive with a score of 263.10.Â
- Matt Klinge, representing the United States, swam a time of 23.67 in the men's 50 fly semifinals to advance to finals as the seventh seed. Klinge placed sixth in finals, also with a time of 23.67.Â
- In the women's 200 back semifinals, Delia Lloyd, representing Canada, set a program record with a time of 2:10.10. She advances to finals as the fourth-seeded swimmer. In finals, Lloyd finished seventh with a time of 2:12.45.Â
- Cornelius Jahn, representing Germany, swam a time of 54.87 in prelims and is the 10th-seeded swimmer heading into the men's 100 back semifinals. He placed 10th in semifinals, finishing in 54.72.Â
- Lloyd placed 12th in the women's semifinals with a time of 1:01.90.
- With the top time of 8:36.12 in the women's 800 free prelims, Mila Nikanorov, who is swimming for Team USA, is the top seed going into finals. Nikanorov won the gold medal, finishing in 8:27.61, breaking her own previously held program record by five seconds.Â
- Jahn and Team Germany placed sixth in the mixed 4x100 medley relay with an overall time of 3:51.13. Jahn led off the relay with a 100 back time of 54.78.Â
- Jahn placed 15th in the semifinals of the 50 back, touching the wall at 25.60.Â
- Lloyd and Team Canada placed fifth in the 4x200 free relay, turning in a team time of 8:01.53.Â
- Hentschel won bronze in the women's 3-meter dive with an aggregate score of 265.75.Â
- Daniel Baltes tied for fifth place in the 50 free finals, touching the wall at 22.17.Â
- Klinge earned a gold medal after helping Team USA qualify for the 4x100 medley relay finals. In prelims, Klinge and his teammates swam a time of 3:34.42 to help USA to the number one seed in finals. The finals squad finished first with a time of 3:33.59.Â
- Jahn and Team Germany placed sixth in finals with a team time of 3:36.47. Jahn swam the opening leg, completing the 100 back in 54.89.Â
