
Buckeyes Conclude Competition at World Championships in Singapore

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Eleven current and former Ohio State swimmers and divers competed at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, wrapping up competition on Sunday, Aug. 3. Below is a breakdown of Buckeye finishes in each event.Â
Women's 10km
Women's 10km
- Emma Finlin, competing for Canada, placed 26th in the 10km open water swim with a time of 2:19:47.80.
- Finlin finished 19th in the 5km with a time of 1:04:37.20.Â
- Charlie Clark and Team USA placed seventh in the mixed 4x1500m with an overall time of 1:10:27.20.Â
- Kristen Romano, representing Puerto Rico, placed 26th in the women's 200 IM prelims with a time of 2:15.09.
- In the men's 200 IM, Tristan Jankovics, swimming for Canada, placed 12th in prelims with a time of 1:58.61 to advance to the semifinals. In semifinals, he finished in 13th place, touching the wall at 1:59.13.Â
- In the men's 4x100 free relay finals, Tomas Navikonis and Team Lithuania placed seventh with a time of 3:12.84. Navikonis swam the opening leg in 48.37. Ruslan Gaziev and Team Canada placed eighth with a time of 3:12.89 and Gaziev swam the opening leg in 48.37.Â
- In the women's 4x100 free relay, Sienna Angove and Team Canada narrowly missed advancing to finals after placing ninth in prelims with a time of 3:37.50.Â
- Incoming Buckeye Aaron Owusu, competing for Eritrea, placed 72nd in the men's 50 fly prelims with a time of 25.76.Â
- Lena Hentschel, competing for Germany, placed 13th in prelims, just one spot off making finals, with a score of 238.65.Â
- Lyle Yost, diving for Team USA, placed 33rd in prelims with a score of 304.70.Â
- Hentschel and her diving partner placed sixth in the 3-meter synchronized dive with a score of 268.17.Â
- Gaziev placed 18th in the men's 100 free prelims with a time of 48.41, narrowly missing advancing to the semifinals.Â
- Hentschel and her partner placed eighth in the mixed 3-meter synchronized diving finals with an aggregate score of 257.61.Â
- Romano placed 23rd in prelims, touching at 5:04.08.Â
- Angove and Team Canada placed sixth in the women's 4x200 free relay with a time of 7:52.52.Â
- Jordi Vilchez and Team Canada finished 12th in prelims in the men's 4x200 free relay with an overall time of 7:12.36.Â
- Owusu finished 73rd in the prelims of the men's 50 free with a time of 24.17.Â
- Gaziev helped Canada qualify for finals in the 4x100 medley relay. The Canadian relay squad placed fourth in prelims with a time of 3:30.86. Canada went on to finish fifth in finals.Â
- Gaziev and Canada placed sixth in finals, finishing in 3:23.16. Gaziev swam the lead-off leg in 48.43.Â
- Hentschel placed fourth on the 3-meter springboard with an aggregate score of 321.60.Â
