COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The 2025 Ohio State Women's Rowing Team faced a heartbreaking conclusion to its 2025 season, falling short of an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Championships.
While the disappointment of an early end to the season is deeply felt by the athletes and coaching staff, the team remains proud of a season filled with immense growth, resilience and appreciation for each other.
"We had a very tough road ahead of us last August and as a team, we did not shy away from that reality," Emily Gackowski, first year head coach of the Buckeyes, said. "This group has shown immense strength, redefined the standard of excellence and laid a foundation their teammates are ready to expand upon. The work we did this year and the contributions from the 2024-25 team will resonate for years to come. As this senior class graduates, the underclassmen are looking forward to building on the foundation our leaders laid out this season. We are thrilled to be welcoming new Buckeyes into this environment in August."
The rowing program is excited about the 25 additions to the roster for the 2026 season. Of the newcomers, 14 will enter the program with the experience necessary to help build a championship program. The remainder, 11 total, will join the walk-on portion of the roster with the desire to develop into varsity contributors.
