Buckeyes have broken two major records this season with plenty more softball to play
COLUMBUS, Ohio – During a season in which records have been broken on regular basis, the Ohio State softball team did something on Tuesday evening that stands out even amongst its gawdy stats.
The Buckeyes hit their 119th home run of the season in the second inning during a 15-5 win at Ohio University. The hit was historic because it broke a 10-year-old Big Ten record and put the Buckeyes at the top of the record books. Ohio State would go on to hit four more home runs vs. the Bobcats on Tuesday, bringing its season total to 123. And with six regular season games remaining and a postseason on the horizon, that number figures to get even bigger.
Most Home Runs – Season (Big Ten)
1. Ohio State – 123 (2025)
2. Michigan – 118 (2015)
3. UCLA – 108 (2010)*
4. Michigan – 103 (2005)
5. UCLA and Oregon* – 95 (1999 and 2016, respectively)
