Buckeyes Claim 19th Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the 19th time in tournament history, the No. 17 Ohio State women's golf team claimed the title at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational, held at the OSU Scarlet Course this weekend. Junior Kary Hollenbaugh continued her standout season, winning the individual title.
"We're so proud of the effort and commitment to the plan," said head coach Lisa Strom. "The team has been working hard and we're having fun; it's a great combination."
This is the fourth consecutive season the Buckeyes have won the tournament. Ohio State shot a seven-under 281 on Sunday, finishing with a 54-hole total of 866 (+2). The Buckeyes had an 11-stroke lead on second-place Michigan State (877). Ohio State led the 13-team field in pars (175), eagles (two), par 4 scoring (4.15) and par 5 scoring (4.88).
Hollenbaugh fired a three-under 69 in the final round, winning the tournament with a 54-hole score of 208 (-8). This is her fourth victory of the spring season, which is tied for most wins in a single season in program history. Hollenbaugh has shot a team-high 12 rounds in the 60s this season. She led the field of 69 players in birdies with 13 and in par 4 scoring; she was four-under on par 4s.
Nellie Ong earned the highest finish of her career, placing fourth with a score of 215 (-1). She shot an even 72 on Sunday. She was five-under on par 5s, which was tied for best among the field. She had nine birdies and one eagle during the tournament.
Faith Choi shot 72 (E) in the final round to finish with a 54-hole score of 220 (+4). She tied for seventh place, which is her highest finish of the season. Choi led the field in pars with 43.
Marina Joyce-Moreno jumped 25 spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for 14th place after firing a four-under 68 in the third round. She finished with a total score of 227 (+11). She had six birdies over three rounds.
Mandy Song tied for 36th place. She shot 81 (+9) on Sunday for a 54-hole total of 236 (+20).
Chloe Lam and Kavya Ajjarapu competed as individuals. Lam shot a career-best 73 (+1) on Sunday and finished with a total score of 231 (+15) to tie for 26th place. She had six birdies. Ajjarapu shot 75 (+3) and tied for 30th place with a 54-hole score of 232 (+16).
The Big Ten Championships are next up for the Buckeyes April 18-20 in Havre de Grace, Md. at Bulle Rock Golf Course.
