Buckeyes Third After First Round of Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 14 Ohio State women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Big Ten Championships on Friday.
Ohio State shot an even team score of 288. The Buckeyes are just two strokes back from Oregon and Illinois; both teams are tied for first with a score of 286 (-2). The Buckeyes led the 18-team field in par 4 scoring in round one; Ohio State was two-under on par 4s. Ohio State also led in birdies with 20.
Freshman Nellie Ong led the Buckeyes through round one. She fired a one-under 71 and she is tied for sixth place. Ong had five birdies on the day, which was second-most among the field of 90 players.
Faith Choi and Kary Hollenbaugh each shot an even 72 in round one and they are tied for 11th place. Choi had four birdies in the first round and Hollenbaugh had two.
Mandy Song carded a 73 (+1) on Friday. She is tied for 24th. Song birdied five holes, which was tied for second-most among the field.
The Big Ten Championships at Bulle Rock Golf Course continue Saturday, April 19-Sunday April 20. Tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
