Buckeyes in 2nd, Four in Top 15 Through 36 Holes of Buckeye Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State carded the lowest round of the day on Friday afternoon and is in second place through 36 holes of the Buckeye Classic at Columbus Country Club.
Friday brought cool and breezy conditions, which made scoring tough. But four Buckeyes are in the Top 15 through two rounds, led by freshman Vaugh Harber at 6-under par. Harber opened with a 70 in the morning and then made five birdies in his round of 4-uner 68 in the afternoon. He is tied for third, just three shots off the pace.
Timotej Formanek and Jack Vojtko each carded rounds of 71-69 and are tied for sixth place at 4-under par. Vojtko had a paid of hole-outs on the day, dunking a wedge on No. 14 in the morning round and then holing a shot from 215 yards out on No. 6 in the afternoon. Formanek made nine total birdies on the day.
Tyler Groomes, who is one of three Buckeyes playing as an individual this weekend, tied Formanek and Harber with nine birdies over the two rounds. He shot rounds of 73-71 and is tied for 14th at even par. Groomes got hot at the start of the back nine in the afternoon, making an eagle and three-consecutive birdies.
Tyler Sabo had a tough opening round 77 but bounced back nicely with a 1-under 71 in the afternoon. Joe Wilson IV carded rounds of 75-74 to sit at 5-over par and round out the scoring five.
Drew Mulcahy posted rounds of 75-76 and Topher Reed had rounds of 80 and 75. Both are playing as individuals.
As a team, the Buckeyes opened with a 287 and then shot an 11-under 277, the lowest round of the day, and sit in second place, three shots behind rival Michigan. The Buckeyes will tee off at 9:40 a.m. in the final round on Saturday morning.
