
No. 3 Buckeyes Starts B1G Play with 5-2 Win Over Penn State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Ohio State started Big Ten play on Saturday with a solid 5-2victory over visiting Penn State.
The Buckeyes are now 12-2 on the year while Penn State, which was off to a great start this season, falls to 11-3.
Ohio State easily took the doubles point to grab momentum in the match and then raced to two wins in singles to make the score 3-0. PSU got the next two wins but the Buckeyes had the advantage in the other matches and never were threatened.
Doubles
- The doubles point hasn’t always come easy for the Buckeyes this season but it today.
- Aidan Kim and Will Jansen rolled David Lindsay and Charl Morgan 6-1 on court one for the first win.
- The clinching win came not too long after as Bryce Nakashima and Alex Fuchs beat Reiya Hattori and Marcus Schoeman 6-2 on court three.
- The hottest Buckeye duo of Brandon Carpico and Nikit Filin were on serve when the point was clinched.
Singles
- Jack Anthrop continued his solid play as he put the second point on the board for the Buckeyes in quick fashion, beating Sam Bossem 6-0, 6-1 on court three.
- Chris Li, returning from an ankle injury that he suffered a couple of weeks ago, looked to be back to form with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Reiya Hattori.
- The Nittany Lions then got wins on courts six and one to pull within one at 3-2 but the Buckeye led big on the other courts.
- The clinching point came from Bryce Nakashima on court four as he beat Marcus Schoeman 6-4, 6-2.
- Alexander Bernard added the final point as he won a second set tiebreaker from Charl Morgan 7-2 and the Buckeyes had a 5-2 victory.
