Bertrand and Udo Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

Leah Bertrand and Edidiong Udo will compete in the women’s 60m and men’s 400m, respectively.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Leah Bertrand and Edidiong Udo will represent the Buckeyes at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, set to take place Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 in Virginia Beach, Va. Both Bertrand and Udo were named Big Ten Sportsmanship Honorees for the indoor season following the Big Ten Indoor Championships.
Bertrand qualified for the women's 60m dash with a nationally ranked 12th best time of 7.19 seconds (TFRRS) at the Big Ten Indoor Championships last weekend. She broke her own program record in the event, previously 7.20 seconds, which she set at the Corky Classic last year.
Udo also recorded a nationally ranked 12th best time (TFRRS) in the form of the men's 400m. He earned a first-place time of 45.61 seconds at the Stan Scott Invite which also put him in Ohio State's record books. He is the third fastest individual to run the 400m for all Buckeye men, trailing Andrew Pierce (45.46, 2001) and Tyler Johnson (45.07, 2021).

- Bertrand landed in the Ohio State record book a second time at Big Ten's, becoming the second-fastest individual in program history in the 200m (23.03). She trails Anavia Battle, who ran 22.39 seconds in 2022.
- She holds the top ten fastest times this season for Buckeye women in the 60m dash with all five of her top five times being sub-7.30.
- She has collected two wins on the season (60m and 200m), with both occurring at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic.
- In the 200m for the Buckeye women this season, Bertrand owns the top two fastest times and has three of the top five fastest times.
Season recap for Udo:
- Udo also has a second appearance in the Ohio State record book with his 2025 Rod McCravy 600m time of 1:16.77. He is the fourth fastest individual in the program history in the event, sandwiched in between fifth place Marvel Brooks (1:17.18, 2013) and third place Andrew Pierce (1:16.73, 2001).
- At the Rod McCravy, his 600m time not only put him in first place, but it also set the meet record. His performance earned him Big Ten Male Freshman of the Week on Jan. 15, 2025.
- On top of his 400m and 600m wins, he also ran a leg on the winning 4x400m relay team at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic (3:09.61)
