
Cotie McMahon and Jaloni Cambridge Named Finalists for WBCA Coaches’ All-America Team

The Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association named its finalists on Tuesday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Women's Basketball Coaches' Association announced its finalists for the Coaches' All-America team on Tuesday. Ohio State junior forward Cotie McMahon and Ohio State freshman guard Jaloni Cambridge were among the 50 finalists on the list.
This season, McMahon was named to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the league's head coaches (unanimous selection) and media. She was also named an AP All-American Honorable Mention, a Cheryl Miller Award top 10 finalist (and preseason watch list), to the preseason watch list and midseason team for the Naismith Trophy, to the preseason watch list, midseason top 25 and late midseason top 20 lists for the Wooden Award, to the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Player of the Year midseason top 50, All-Big Ten Preseason Team and to the Big Ten weekly honor roll (twice). This season, McMahon ranks ninth in the Big Ten with 16.5 points per game and has six 20-point games. She recorded two double-doubles (15p/10r at Nebraska and 16p/11 at Rutgers) this season. McMahon scored in double figures in both NCAA Tournament games this season and led the team in scoring (16.5 ppg), field goals made (173), free throws made (99), while being second in three-pointers (34) and assists (60).
Cambridge was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches (co) and media. She was a unanimous All-Big Ten First Team selection by the coaches and was the first member on the All-Big Ten Second Team by the media. Cambridge was also named to the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Player of the Year midseason top 50 list, USBWA National Freshman of the Week, Big Ten weekly honor roll (twice) and led the conference with four Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors this season. Cambridge is 16th in the Big Ten with 15.4 points per game and also ranks sixth in steals (2.0 per game) and 11th in assists (3.9 per game). She is one of only eight players in the conference and the only Buckeye to record more than one 30-point game this season. Cambridge scored 33 points in the Feb. 26 win against Michigan State – the most points by a Buckeye freshman since Kelsey Mitchell. Cambridge led the team with nine 20-point games and 113 assists and is second in scoring (15.4 ppg), steals (59), field goals made (167) and free throws made (88). She scored in double figures in both NCAA Tournament games.
