COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15/13 ranked and No. 4 seeded Ohio State women's basketball team (26-7, 13-5 B1G) fell to No. 20/20 ranked and No. 5 seeded Tennessee (24-9, 8-8 SEC) by an 82-67 margin in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
Ohio State started quickly, building a 16-5 lead before the Lady Vols responded with a run of their own. OSU led by a 21-17 margin after one quarter. Tennessee put together a strong second quarter to take a 40-35 lead at halftime. Each team put together a double-digit run and held the lead in the third quarter but it was Tennessee that was up 66-59 after 30 minutes. The Lady Vols had the 16-8 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Cotie McMahon was the lone player in the game to reach double figures before halftime, scoring 11 points in the first half and 17 points in the game. Jaloni Cambridge (19) joined McMahon in double figures as nine total Buckeyes scored points. Four different Buckeyes tallied at least five rebounds apiece.

Chance Gray opened scoring with a driving layup on the first possession of the game but Tennessee scored its first points on a triple. Ohio State responded with the next nine points to build an 11-3 lead with 5:31 to play in the opening frame. The Buckeyes extended their lead to as many as 11 points at 16-5 before a 12-2 run by the Lady Vols cut the OSU lead to 18-17 with 44 seconds remaining in the quarter. Ohio State held the 21-17 advantage after 10 minutes.
Tennessee began the second quarter's scoring with a three-pointer before back-to-back baskets from Petty. The Lady Vols used a 7-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 27-25 with just under six minutes to play in the quarter. Tennessee extended its lead to as many as six points at 32-26 and led by a 40-35 margin going into the locker room.
J. Cambridge made the game's first basket of the second half before a 14-0 Tennessee run extended the Lady Vols' lead to 54-37 with just under six minutes to play in the third. Ohio State scored the next 12 points in the game, including nine consecutive points from J. Cambridge, to cut the deficit to 54-49 just past the midway point of the quarter. The Buckeyes extended their run to 16-0, holding the Lady Vols scoreless for more than three minutes to get within one at 54-53. OSU took a 57-56 lead with McMahon at the line with 2:48 to play in the quarter. Tennessee scored the next eight points to take a 64-57 lead and led by a 66-59 margin after three quarters of play.
