COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will wrap-up its southern swing this week at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla. The first two rounds will be played on Monday and the final round will be played on Tuesday.
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will consist of five Ohioans in Joe Wilson IV, Jack Vojtko, Tyler Sabo, Timotej Formanek and Vaughn Harber.
- This will be the fifth appearance for the Buckeyes at the Valspar Collegiate. They finished third in 2021, sixth in 2022, fourth in 2023 and 15th in 2024.
- 11 of the 16 teams in the field are ranked in the Top 25, including five teams in the Top 10 and each of the top three ranked teams.
- The Buckeyes are coming off their spring break trip that culminated at the Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga. Tyler Sabo led the way with rounds of 72-73-72 to finish tied for 32nd at 1-over par.
- Sabo leads the team with a 73.63 scoring average. He also is tied for the team lead with three Top 20 finishes and seven rounds at par or better.
- Vojtko has matched Sabo with three Top 20s and seven rounds at par or better on the year. He also leads the team with five eagles.
- Wilson IV has had a nice season in his first full year. He has played in every event and is second on the team with a 73.68 scoring average. He is just a shot behind Sabo through seven events.
- Harber opened the Linger Longer last week with a round of 2-under 70, the lowest of any of the eight Buckeyes during the event. The freshman has also played in all seven stroke play events and has had over 90 percent of his rounds count towards the team score.
- Formanek has had a solid spring, averaging 73.8 strokes over nine rounds since the turn of the calendar. He had a final round of 2-under 70 in Puerto Rico and a season-best 4-under 68 at Colleton River, which allowed him to finish tied for 14th, his best finish of the season.
- Temperatures are expected to be in the low 80s with a chance of rain on Tuesday morning.
