Buckeyes Receive All-Region Honors

Nine standouts recognized
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nine members of the Ohio State fencing program were honored with All-Midwest Region awards by the United States Fencing Coaches Association. The awards are based on result and field size at each of the NCAA regional competitions.
Natalia Botello was a first team selection in women's sabre. Five Buckeyes earned second team accolades - epeeists Gloria Klughardt and Gabriel Feinberg, Alina Lee and Solin Li in foil and Nolan Williams in sabre. Ilya Ayupov (foil), Nowell Gibson (epee) and Miles Weiss (epee) received honorable mention recognition.
Lee is now a four-time honoree in women's foil, with first team accolades in and 2023 and '24 and an honorable mention nod in 2022. Feinberg (2022/1st; 2024/HM) and Weiss (2024/1st, 2023 HM) are both now three-time selections. Williams was also named to the second team in 2022 and Ayupov earned his second straight honorable mention accolade.
Botello and Klughardt are both in their first collegiate season at Ohio State.
NCAA Championships This Week
The national championships begin Thursday at Penn State with two days of men's competition. The women will compete Saturday and Sunday.
Three Buckeyes will head to the national championships in each weapon. In epee, Feinberg and Weiss will compete for the men and Klughardt will be in the women's event. In foil, Ayupov and Li earned a spot for the men's championship and Lee was selected for the women's field. In sabre, Avin Rai and Williams will represent the Buckeyes in the men's event and Botello will be in the women's championship.
