Buckeyes Wrap Up Schiller Duals and Regular Season

Ohio State men 2-0 on the day, with women 2-2
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State fencing program closed out the Schiller Duals hosted by Northwestern in Ryan Fieldhouse in Evanston, Ill., Sunday. The No. 7-ranked Buckeye women were 2-2 on the day, with the No. 5 men 2-0 in the final event of the regular season.
For the weekend, the women were 6-3, while the men posted a 5-1 ledger. The women stand 26-14 on the year and the men are 21-14.
Over the two days of the Schiller Duals, Sally Fan was 15-2 to lead the Buckeye women and the women's epee squad. Marie-Frederique Millette was second in women's epee with an 11-1 ledger. In women's sabre, Maria Alexe led the way with an 11-5 mark and Grace Fan notched a 10-5 record. Masha Cojocari was first for women's foil, posting a 13-7 record, while Lira Cannon, Alexis Kostelny and Raiyan Moradi-Bidhendi each had eight victories. The women's epee squad was 8-1 in the event, with the sabre squad 7-2 and foil 6-3.
For the men, Avin Rai was 13-0 in sabre to pace the Buckeyes in Evanston. Eddie Maklin and Samuel Rightler both had six wins to rank second in sabre. In men's epee, Sami Boumedienne was 14-4 on the weekend, followed by Nowell Gibson who was 11-4 and Jakob Stange with a 10-4 mark. In men's foil, Mitchell Huth was first with a 9-4 record, with Albert Bagdány 8-3. The foil and epee squads were both 5-1 combined in the event, with sabre 4-2.
The Buckeye Women
The women fell to No. 6 Northwestern, 17-10, to start the day and dropped a 16-11 match to No. 14 Temple, along with a 24-3 win over Wheaton and 23-4 defeat of Incarnate Word. The sabre and epee squads were both 3-1, with foil 2-2.
In sabre, Natalia Botello led the squad with three victories, and in women's foil, Masha Cojocari notched three wins to lead the Buckeyes. In women's epee, Sally Fan was a squad-best 6-1, followed by Gloria Klughardt who had a 4-2 mark.
The Buckeye Men
Ohio State's men's squad was 2-0 Sunday, downing Wheaton 25-2 and Incarnate Word 17-10. The foil and epee squads were 2-0, with sabre 1-1.
Avin Rai was 4-0 to lead men's sabre, with Kelly Liu 3-0. In men's foil, Lorenzo Mion had a 4-0 record and Albert Bagdány was 4-1. Sami Boumedienne and Nowell Gibson were 5-1 in men's epee Sunday, while Jakob Stange notched a 5-0 mark.
